Following NCAA men’s college basketball tournament selection, Texas had seven teams in the field of 68. Only twice before has a single state had as many teams make the tournament—California in 2002, and Texas in 2010. With the Final Four set to be held in San Antonio, much of March Madness was brimming with a Lone Star infusion.
By the Second Round of tournament play; Stephen F. Austin, University of Houston, TCU, University of Texas and Texas Southern had all been eliminated. The remaining Texas hopefuls are Texas Tech, the third seed in the East Region, and the West Region’s seventh-seeded Texas A&M.
The Sweet 16 kicks off at the end of this week. Texas A&M will face the University of Michigan on Thursday, March 22 at 7:37 p.m., while Texas Tech battles Purdue on Friday, March 23 at 9:57 p.m.
